Healer on
the Street
"Healer on the Street" is a film about life and
its problems in one of largest Brazilian "fa-velas"
in Fortaleza, Northeast of the country. Its main character
is a local resident who shows some of his most important
activities like a charismatic leadership (a community leader)
as well as a healer (so called "father os saints").

During the celebrations of Saint Johns festival in the
villages of Chuao, Venezuela, and image of Jesus appeared on
a tray. The community is trying to find out if this is a
miracle and what it could mean.

Condors and
Bulls Brought on Stage
A form of bull-fight, in which a condor is tied
on the back of a bull, takes place only in very few villages
of the South-Peruvian Andes. One of these places, Cotabamas,
is visited year by year by various photographers and
filmteams from all over the world with the same objec-tive:
to document this event for a foreign audience. Therefore,
this film, which was shot during two years of
anthropological fieldwork, has ist look in the first place
at these visitors from abroad... The film shows that the
difference between documentary and fictional films isnt that
big and that the idealization of other cultures as a certain
kind of market strategy, could be described as a form of
visual coloni-zation.
