director Cristina Comencini investigates the circumstances of
the death of Carlo Giuliani who was shot in Genua by a
carabinieri on the 20th Juli 2001. The official Italian version
said that it was self-defence. In Italy the screening is
forbidden.
»The idea of making this film came all at once, at the
same moment that I was announcing I would make it, during a
press conference in Venise when, together with my colleagues, I
was presenting the collective film "Un mondo diverso è
possibile". Maybe because I heard Giulano Giulani's words,
the evening itself, in Genoa: I was deeply struck by their
calmness, their desire for pacification, their gentleness,

Auf dem Festival von Cannes 2002 wurde der Dokumentarfilm der
bekannten italienischen Regisseurin Francesca Comencini
vorgestellt. Der Film wurde schon zum vornherein in Italien
verboten. Francesca Comencini hat eine immense Recherchearbeit
geleistet, um die genauen Umstände des Todes von Carlo Giuliani
aufzuklären, der am 20. Juli 2001 in Genua von einem
Carabinieri erschossen worden. Die offizielle Version in Italien
lautete von Anfang an auf Notwehr. Die im Film
zusammengetragenen Fakten, unter anderem auch die Rekonstruktion
des Falles durch die damit betrauten Untersuchungsbehörden,
widersprechen dieser Version.
